Peanut butter, I’m obsessed! It was always a staple in our household growing up and it still remains one in mine. Admittedly I lived off of it while living in Vancouver as a makeup student on a small budget!
Not only does it taste good, I consider peanut butter a healthy food providing the body beauty nutrients including Vitamin E (antioxidants) and monounsaturated fats (yay “Good” fats!). Including peanut butter with a carb such as fruit (yum bananas!) helps decrease the sugar spike after eating the carb due to its protein and fat content that slow down digestion. This helps keep me full longer!
I often get asked by my clients which peanut butter(pb) is better to buy. Usually it depends on their preferences but I would recommend a natural pb with no sugar, oils, or salt added. Don’t forget to check out what you’re buying as it’s super important to read the ingredient list on your food packages….as you will see in my pictures I have one pb that sells itself as “Natural” but when I turned it over to read the nutrition label the ingredients in this so called natural pb was roasted peanuts (good), sugar (no!), palm oil (no!), salt (No!)…back on the shelf.
The second pb sells itself as “100% Natural” and turning it over I was pleasantly surprised to see Peanuts in the ingredient list, and only peanuts! *sigh of relief
Don’t be fooled by the packing and fancy claims on the front of the label and read your ingredient lists! My next goal is to make my own fresh pb!
