Only a few more days until Halloween! What are your plans?? It is a Monday this year and I will be working at the hospital, therefore my costume will be pretty tame. I’m usually a last minute put a costume together type of person, and I like things that are simple and don’t cost me a lot of money. Meaning I don’t pay $40 for a sexy Care Bear costume that comes with minimal fabric (really what am I paying for?).
I always loved playing dress up so Halloween was a perfect time for my creative mind to flourish. And yes I admit, getting a bunch of candy was an exciting time for me as well. So far in my adult life, Halloween just hasn’t been the same. There hasn’t been much options for things to do besides the typical going out to the same bars you would any given weekend. Having this blog had me actually wanting to do something more for Halloween this year and luckily for me another blogger reached out to me so we could do something together! (a thing that I’m really loving about having a blog and being on social media is the people that you meet, the relationships you build and the inspiration you gain from them)
Myself and Sarah Bellamy of Sare City, a Fashion/Lifestyle and Home Blog, worked together in creating a fun, chic, diy Halloween party. I had a great time working on this with Sarah as she has a great eye for design. We each put together cute costumes that were simple, affordable and comfortable to wear (and not degrading). Sarah designed the table setting and decorations, while of course I worked on easy but tasty diy snacks. Sarah was a beautiful unicorn, that was super glam and girly! – read up on her costume and decorations here.
My costume was “Superfood”- very suiting for me considering my career! To put this costume together:
- 1 cape (colour of your choice)
- 1 white t-shirt
- 1 pair leggings
- Tall black boots
- Arm accessories
- Black Fabric Marker
To assemble: Write FOOD on your white shirt using the black fabric marker. Do your makeup superhero style (or pick up a superhero mask). Put on leggings, shirt, cape and any accessories you want to make yourself one baddass superfruit!
For the food, I wanted to stick with dishes that were easy to make, taste good and fit Sarah’s design of a mostly black, white and orange decor. I also try to make treats a bit healthier and include wholesome ingredients. Here I have 4 dishes and 1 drink because hey, sometimes I too like a good cocktail:
