“Happy People are the Prettiest” ∼ Audrey Hepburn. Ahh Audrey you got it so right! I am amazed with the huge influence that our mind (how we think, feel, perceive things) has on our health and looks. And there is tons of research out there to back that up! I know from experience that my mind can influence how my body feels, years ago my doctor told me that I had an “anxious gut” – the stress and anxiety I was going through at the time was disrupting my healthy digestion and causing bloating and overall feeling gross. And an unhealthy gut was also showing up on my face! While on the other hand, have gotten through challenging times in my life, now I can say that when I’m positive, happy and smiling, my body feels fresh and healthy… somehow I even feel more fit (probably because I’m seeing myself in a positive light). And don’t you think people who are happy and smiling look more attractive than a mopey, sad individual or better yet resting b* face (unless your walking down a runway 😉 )
I had a great weekend, and it being a long weekend, I still have more of it to enjoy! I got to spend time with friends and family, had a great hot yoga class, did makeup on beautiful people, shared with you lovelies, AND Gideon and I even went out last night! So yah I’m feeling pretty good!
Side note- the pictures in this post were taken the beginning of this week by a friend of mine who introduced me to a hiking trail I’ve never been! This was a great day!
I highly encourage you to do what you love, do what makes you smile, and be true and kind to yourself. Here are 5 things that makes me happy (there are more than 5 things but I don’t want to go on forever about myself lol). In no particular order…
Creating Something Beautiful or Something I’m Proud Of
This applies anywhere from doing well in school to physically creating something like tasty healthy food or a piece of art. When I see a makeup or a photoshoot that went really good, that I did, I’m in the clouds! Even as I teach myself how to take photographs that are on this website, I get so excited when they actually look good and people respond to them!
Friends, Family, My Puppy, and Gideon (who is my friend and family)
I think this is on every ones’ list, and really I think it should be. Family has always been important to me, and I’m lucky to have a supportive family that overall loves each other and can spend time with each other without it being forced. AND of course friends…wow I can see such a change in my mood after spending time with a good friend. I do only keep people in my life who have a positive influence on it so yah no wonder they make me smile! These people let me be myself, accept me and motivate me to continue growing and better myself. Gideon, my boyfriend, is all of this to me. Feel free to read more about this topic on my About Me page.
Doing Things Outside and Exercise
I grew up in a small village in the prairies, so literally the land was our playground (haha that sounded super cheesy, oh well, not going to erase it)! I spent a lot of time outside…riding bike, playing in the sand pit with my brother’s mini cars, hiking, riding horse, playing hide-and-seek within the whole village! Being outside gives me a sense of calmness, feeling free and youthful. At anytime I’m feeling kinda grumpy I head out and either take a long walk with the pup or go for a jog, and my mood is instantly better! Definitely getting out and moving is something that makes me feel good from the inside out!
Traveling and Learning
If you don’t travel, or haven’t traveled, I highly suggest that you do! This world is so big and there is so much beauty in it! I love learning about different cultures, meeting new people, trying food from around the world, and being inspired from it! You learn to appreciate your life more and what is in it, or maybe it kicks you in the butt to work harder so you can get what you want. Also, I get a lot of walking in when I’m traveling so that def helps with feeling good!
Music and Dancing like Nobody’s Watchin’
This really helps set the mood…haha okay okay… I mean music really influences how I feel. Doing my makeup, listening to Beyonce, I’m feeling pretty confident. Or maybe I’m belting out karaoke or dancing in my house with just my dog watching (head tilted to the side) or both! Better yet, going to a musical and hearing the harmonies of beautiful voices or instruments sends butterflies into my stomach! Music has always been a part of my life growing up playing piano and singing so it’s something I really appreciate. Also, isn’t it amazing how music brings people together!?
Wow just writing this post made me feel all motivated and tingly inside. Now I’m going to go meet with a friend for tea!
Happy people are healthier, and when you’re happy and healthy you radiate!
So what makes you feel like you’re on top of the world??
